Technique Card Trio

The only thing better than crafting is learning new techniques while you do it! For this ‘Technique Tuesday’ I am going to share a trio of cards using a variety of techniques!

marker technique trio 3

Card #1: Be Happy

This card using embossing as well as the use of alcohol markers. To emboss you will need an embossing machine (any of them that will take a 5×7 folder will do) and one of our amazing embossing folders! If you have not seen all our designs yet then check out this link!

You place your paper in the folder, put it through your embossing machine and voila! For the above card I used the woodgrain embossing folder.

The flowers are coloured in with our alcohol markers- I stamped the outline image in black ink and then coloured.  I love how our makers blend and look so bright and beautiful!

Card #2: Have a Beautiful Day

For this card I did a mix of dry embossing (with the embossing folder like card #1 but this time I used the honeycomb one) AND heat embossing. The feathers in the background and the arrow under the sentiment are both heat embossed.  For this technique I used Versamark ink to stamp my image and then sprinkled embossing powder over the image. (click on embossing powder to see the colours we offer).  I then heat set the powder and it becomes dry and glossy (and so pretty!).  After I just coloured in the areas of the feathers left exposed with alcohol markers.

Card #3: Lovely

This card uses more dry embossing (this time the whole front of the card was embossed in the floral folder) and more marker work. If you look at the ‘Lovely’ sentiment you will see I blended my markers to create an ombre look.  You can achieve this by using a darker version of the colour on the top and slowly colouring to meet the lighter colour on bottom OR you can use any one marker and just add multiple layers of that colour where you want a darker shade. It will blend beautifully because you are using alcohol markers!

Here is a list of things used in the technique trio:

Embossing folders (woodgrain, honeycomb and floral)

Embossing powders (silver)

Heat gun

Versamark ink pad

Shin Han Touch Markers

Happy Birds stamp set

Seaside paper packet

Black journaling Pen (for the lines around the images)

and YES  all of these things are available on my SHOP!

Minnie and Ellery

This post doesn’t feature much new stuff- the glitter paper, thistle cardstock and a little bit of seaside paper are all that is current- but it does feature the sweetest little girl and her love for Minnie Mouse! The paper was a past special- Dotty for you.  The dots were perfect for a layout all about Minnie. I used the one non-CTMH cartridge I own (I think it is called Mickey and friends) and made Minnie Mouse heads with cute glitter bows!

I mixed it all up to tell the story of my sweet girl and her love of Minnie- I cannot count how many times she has gone to school all dressed up like Minnie Mouse. I love it (even if I seem slightly embarrassed at the time).  I love how she has no idea that most people don’t wear costumes out- she wears it with pride and a big smile!

This year she will also get to meet Minnie Mouse thanks to Close to my Heart- I cannot wait for this moment! I know it will be very special and one that she carries with her for a long time!

I wrote earlier this week about my new schedule of kits and workshops- this is one for the carmakers and I could NOT be more excited- especially with how these beautiful cards turned out (they were inspired by my very creative friend Lisa Stenz).

In this kit/workshop you create 5 of each of the 3 designs and end up with 15 cards in total- cards that are perfect for any occasion.

Here they are up close:

August: One Layout, Two Looks: Seaside

I am very excited to announce the return and addition of some new workshops/kits to my monthly line up.  I few weeks back I asked my customers to fill out a survey and the information that I received back was used to inform my decisions for the upcoming year- it was pretty unanimous- layout and card workshops/kits PLEASE!!

Now if you look up top you will see a new tab on the blog- PAPERCRAFTING WORKSHOP/KITS- each month the information will be updated to showcase what is new.  Workshop dates will be listed for local customers and kits prices listed for those who are not able to attend or are not local to me- all prices include tax and shipping to your home!

One layout, two looks is a workshop/kit designed to fit your style of scrapbooking! You can pick between the looks to get a supply list and instructions that fit your style. Chose one that uses the paper and complements OR chose the one that uses paper and cricut cuts!
