Cross Canada Blog Hop: Valentine’s Day

Welcome to the Cross Canada Blog hop where we are sharing out love of Valentine’s Day! If you have come from Nicky’s blog then you are on the path across Canada to see all our artwork- have fun and don’t forget to leave  a little LOVE on every blog by adding a comment!

This holiday is one of my favourite smaller holidays.  I love the colours, I love all the fun artwork I can create and I love that the holiday is about love!

Here is a banner I created for my mantel- I am really enjoying the mantel in the new house and decorating it for the different seasons and holidays. This banner was quickly made using the CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge and the Artiste cartridge. I used older papers as they had the colours I was seeking (a great way to use up your stash) and added some glitter paper for sparkle.

My next project was one inspired by something I saw on pinterest.  I used one of our decor frames and simply added hearts cut from all the CTMH cricut  cartridges.  I used a few different papers and sizes to add some variety.  Added some mini clothespins to attach the hearts and done!  A cut piece of art for the mantel that I can easily change out later!

Welcome to our December Blog Hop featuring Christmas Decor.

We hope that you will take the time to leave comments on our posts, as we love to get feedback from our viewers….whether it was something that you really liked or some new technique that was used that you would like to learn how to do….by leaving us comments, we get to hear what you like, and what you want to see. Thank you… now on to our hop!

If you have just come from Sheri’s post then you are on the path of Christmas fun!

I LOVE christmas and my favourite part is all the activities- crafting, memory-making and baking! I just LOVE it!  Every year I add to my Christmas home decor so here are two pieces that I created just for you (and now for me to enjoy!)

The first project features one of our new magnetic chalkboards. The red frame is just PERFECT for Christmas decor!  You may notice that I covered the chalkboard- well I wanted to use it again later and had one piece of our 12×12 chalkboard paper left so I saw the opportunity to reuse this frame for at least two things.

I covered the back with Kraft paper, framed my chalkboard piece with green glitter paper… now how did I do my awesome chalkboard image??  READ below for my tutorial!

Christmas chalkboard

So it started with a pinterest search- free chalkboard printable. I found one I liked and printed it out (note: I used the draft feature on my printer settings so that I did not waste a lot of ink).  I then used white transfer paper (bought at the craft store) and layered it between my image and my chalkboard.

Next I took my Piercing and Embossing tool (embossing end) and went over the image outline so that the white off the transfer paper would do its job… and voila! It worked.

Next I took our Chalk Marker (this baby is permanent so be sure you are placing it where you want it!) and went over the outline and filled in the bits I wanted to fill in. To finish it off I also added green glitter leaves where they had chalk ones- I wanted to make this part easier AND add some colour!  This worked great and I have plans to do it again!

My second project is a Display Tray decorated with Yuletide papers, complements and accessories. These frames have been very popular as gifts over the last few years and our new family photos are going to have a special place in this one.  It is a very simple and quick project that looks great no matter what the theme!

Card Display using the Decor Frame

I love all the cute cards I make and receive but I find if I put them away in a box I tend to forget I have them and NOT give them away as I should.  Recently I started putting my completed cards up on one of our decor frames (this is the colonial white one that comes with a chicken wire insert) and I have to say I love it!!

It looks beautifu

It looks nice

and I now use my cards MUCH more- after all the point is not to accumulate this HUGE pile of cards but to give them away and spread joy and thoughtfulness.

There are so many fun ways to use our decor frames- here are the two styles we currently sell.

Valentine’s Day Ideas for the whole family!

I love holidays- especially the ones that really allow me to be creative and have fun with my family! Valentine’s Day is 100% one of those holidays!

I have created lots of fun stuff in preparation for the big day (and have a bag of hidden ‘goods’ to surprise my loved ones with that morning).

Here are just a few of the things I have created that I hope will inspire you!

kids valentine

This is the Valentine ‘treat’ for my kids to take to their class (at school for one and daycare for the other).  I used the February Stamp of the Month to create the ‘Wild Thing’ image and on the back used a nice black pen and a stamp image to add the phrase “… you are WRITE on”- cute, right?!

Sorry photo removed for publication!

This in the card I intend to give to my sweet hubby! He tends to (really) dislike holidays and usually does not do a whole lot but I LOVE them (and if reads this then I suggest you do a little something for all of us that day… I know you can do it!).  This card looks simple (and truly it was) but it took a while. I used our new flamingo dots (you are getting some serious sneak peeks here!)  and a heart I cut out on the cricut.  The heart was cut out on Kraft paper so that it would blend in and not look like I had a base at all.  I then added my flamingo dots one by one.  To make sure they stay put I coated the whole heart with a layout of liquid glass- voila!

love you frame

And last- my ‘I Love You’ decor frame.  At Christmas I had my advent calendar set up on this- now I am switching it to Valentines and I plan to list all the reasons I love my family and all the things they do to keep the love going! They can add to this as well.  I have a video showing the frame in detail below- enjoy!!
