November Featured Paper: White Pines

Happy November! A time of frosty windows and the beginning of our snow season (although if it holds off till December I would be okay with that too!)  November starts to bring with it all the fun of the pre-holiday season: baking, decorating, time with family, traditions, expectation of the big reveal of christmas morning… I just love this part! For you, November will also herald a season to get back to scrapbooking and for me it means getting last Christmas scrapbooked BEFORE this Christmas!

Whatever our seasonal photos and memories, White Pines will be a paper that fits in perfectly!   White Pines features a more traditional holiday colour palette with a hint of something a little different.  The complements and assortment can add a fun flair to your pages or cards!

The below layout features the paper and complements as well as some of the Picture my Life cards (one for journaling and two accents that were cut out of other PML cards).

Christmas morning and only four photos??

I have hidden some extra photos of that morning behind others- using our AWESOME flip flaps (see below)

They are a great way to incorporate more photos but also add in photos that might not feature the best photography 🙂

Featured Paper Pack: Sangria

Fall has arrived and with fall comes the desire for deep, rich colours in shades of green, purples and blues. The perfect accent to all of the beautiful fall photos you are sure to take (or have taken for years) is our Sangria paper.

For me it was the perfect paper to scrapbook my photo of our new home- we have been here almost a full year but I just did not have the right paper or accessories to scrapbook this memory until now. I love how it turned out!

Sunshine Birthday Party

If you have followed my blog for any time you know that I enjoy throwing a good birthday party for my kids. Now, my son is older (11) and has evaded the birthday fun the last few years- opting for hockey games with friends and a trip south.  My daughter thought is still young and LOVES a good party!

This year Ellery turned four and we decided to have a Sunshine themed party- outside games, beach visit if it is hot and lots of yellow! Of course I use as much Close to my Heart product as possible in throwing my parties!

Treat bags- we used the CTMH treat bags to create our little bags of sunshine for our friends. They included the sunny treats of bubbles and a ring pop! The front of the bags were decorated with cuts from the CTMH Artbooking cartridge and some of our new orange shimmer trim!

Our ‘Happy Birthday Sunshine’ banner was made with more yellow treat bags. The sun was cut out on the Artbooking cartridge and the alphabet was cut using our new CTMH Artistry cartridge (and I LOVE the font!)

This fun birthday decoration was created using tissue paper- cheap and easy but it took a long time! We took polaroids of all our guests and I added the pictures to this bunting with clothespins- a fun little addition but one that I forgot to snap a pic of in all the excitement.

We also had lots of yellow food- fresh corn on the cob, lots of lemonade and other sunny treats. I baked a cake and my sister decorated it- the cake was out ‘shone’  by the banana split bar (HUGE HIT!!)  My big girl is now four and off to school- boo!

Cross Canada Blog Hop: Summer Fun

Welcome to the Cross Canada Blog Hop!  This month we are featuring summer fun- that is easy to do when we have had such a great summer in my part of Canada.

For my summer fun project I decided to create a layout showing some of the fun we have been having. It is our first summer in our new home and we are lucky to live across the street from Lake Simcoe and have our very own neighborhood beach! It is sandy and shallow- the perfect beach and just steps from our door. Needless to say we spend a lot of time there.

awesome summer layout

To create my layout I used the Zoe paper, Zoe complements and Zoe accessories. I also added some images from the new Cricut Artistry cartridge (love it!)  If you have not ordered some of this paper yet then you are missing out- I do think it is the belle of the ball when it comes to our new Annual book- super versatile and so pretty!   You can place an order on my SHOP

Eat Your Greens: Zoe Layout

I know there is this myth that children do not like their veggies… apparently in some households the kids will go to any lengths not to eat things like broccoli, asparagus, brussel sprouts and other yummy things. Although I am far from a perfect parent I have managed to do one thing well- convince my kids that veggies are awesome yummy!

Now how did I do this? Really, I have no idea, but they both LOVE their veggies and will often ask for their fav- broccoli. In fact, this one time, when asked what treat they would like both my kids offered up broccoli (and really I expected chips or chocolate or something ‘treat-ish’). This time was one of those ‘treats’ and my daughter also told me she wanted to eat it with chopsticks- this left me confused for a few reasons. 1. How does she know what chopsticks are? I am sure that answer lies in one of her cartoons. 2. Do we have chopsticks? 3. How does she expect to actually eat with them?

Well, after some time we figured out that chopsticks in our house are the salad tongs and she actually did really well on the eating part…. after all, she ate her greens!
