New CTMH Product Blog Hop: Year of Dates

WELCOME!! To our NEW CTMH PRODUCT BLOG HOP! If you have come from Carol’s blog then you are doing this right (LOL)… just keep following along and click on the link at the end of my post.

and who doesn’t love new product… I am very excited to share my project with you.  I decided to focus on the NEW COLOURS we have (five in total) and our new My Designer creations CUPCAKE BOX!

Our new colours are thistle, flaxen, canary, pixie, and glacier.  In my project I focused on pixie, glacier and thistle (I love this colour combination!).  You can see them in my cupcake box below:

year of dates

So – what is a year of dates? Well this is going to be a Christmas gift for my hubby.  In the box I have created a series of small cards (two for each month) and in each card is a date for the two of us. Some dates are stay at home things and some are spend a day or an evening out.  I tried to really mix it up and include things we both like.  Here are some of my ideas:

  • ice cream sundaes at home
  • picnic at the park
  • ice skating
  • sledding
  • movies (at home or at the theatre)
  • apple picking
  • go to a ball game
  • go to a hockey game
  • have a board game evening…

year of dates cards

I created my cards to follow through on the colour palette I shared above. I cut all these cards using the CTMH cricut artiste cartridge.  I cut the matching hearts in glitter paper using the same cartridge.

year of dates inside cards

The inside of the card is similar for them all- some simple line detail around the inside piece to frame it up (hand drawn) and then the month and date activity.

August Stamp of the Month Blog Hop: What a Hoot

Welcome to our August Blog Hop and the first hop in an all new Annual Inspirations Idea Book!! If you have come from Jill’s blog then you are on the correct path in our circular hop- just keep reading and then hop on to the next blogger below.

hoot card SOTM flat front

Have you SEEN the adorable stamp of the month’s we are offering in the Annual Inspirations?!! They are soooooo stink in’ cute!

August brings to us the ‘What a Hoot’ Stamp set- it may seem early for something that has a Halloween taste to it but given that you need time to create all your Halloween goodness it is really just in time!

I made this card using the CTMH Cricut Artiste- this is one of the swing cards that you can cut (sized at 5 1/2 when I cut).  I then added elements from the Scaredy Cat paper and complements packs.  I stamped and cut out my stamped images (and coloured aspects in with our NEW shinhan touch twin markers!).  Finished it off with some of our white enamel stars (coloured with the new markers.. more on that in a later post).

The next item is a gift bag- made using the same paper and the August stamp of the month- how cute!!! You could use these to hand out candy in your neighbourhood (provided you don’t get a zillion kids- we usually get two or three so I could manange).

Want to get this stamp set for your own? Place an order on my SHOP (link at top of page) and when you spend $50 you can get this for only $5.00!!! (and if you JOIN my August launch party while you are at the SHOP then you might also win the hostess rewards!!)

Emboss it Blog Hop

Welcome to our Emboss it Blog Hop that is celebrating the release of CTMH embossing folders! I am so happy to add these to my stash (I had a few others but rarely used them) and to dig out my cuttlebug once again!  If you have hoped over from Melinda’s blog then you are on the correct path and I hope you enjoy the experience!

embossed easter card

To create my card I used the Dot embossing folder and one of our new M sized stamp sets- coloured egg.  I cut my card base on our Cricut Artiste cartridge and then layered some of our glitter paper (LOVE the glitter papers) with some slate cardstock that I embossed.  My egg image was stamped and then coloured with our markers as well as paper piecing some glitter paper onto it.  Then to add to the detail of the egg I outlined the image with a black marker (fine tip).

Here is some of what I used:

Shamrock Card

Happy St. Patrick’s Day- for you I made this Shamrock card!  Glitter paper, some simple sticking, Cricut Artiste, paper fundamentals and some of our marquee shapes- it came together very easily!

shamrock card

The card base was cut on the Artiste cartridge (so cute!) and the hearts that make up my shamrock were also cut using that cartridge (yes, there are four hears that make up my shamrock- I scored them down the middle and used foam tape to give them some lift).

I hope my four leaf clover gives you lots of good luck today!

Embossing Folders

Yesterday I introduced you to the new embossing folders that CTMH has recently produced! Today I want to share some art with you using the embossing technique at its purest- just plain embossing.  I LOVE the look and the FEEL that embossing can give to a project.  In these cards I did the same thing for each- I placed the front of my card in the embossing folder (about 3/4 of the card front in the folder).  Once I placed the folder through the machine it came out with such a beautiful texture – this pattern is our ‘quatrefoil’- my FAV of all of them!

embossing card with bow

I then added a small strip of paper and a bow cut on the Cricut Artiste to finish of my card.  So simple and yet so pretty! So much so that I had to try it a bunch more times and with glitter paper- these are my new fav cards!!!

Tomorrow be sure to come back to see the sanding technique with embossing!

8 Projects using the CTMH Cricut Cartridges

I am sure that you LOVE your Close to my Heart Cricut cartridges as much as I do- I almost use them exclusively as there is VERY little not on one of the three.  The collections they come in are just as useful- the stamps and die-cuts that coordinate perfectly with the cartridges are my ‘go-to’ sets time and again.

Here is a compilation of some of the projects I have done in the past year using our cartridges- more information on them can be found on the CTMH Cricut Collections Page of the website OR you can order any of these on my Shop page.

TWO of the projects are new to my blog!  I hope you enjoy all of these and would LOVE to hear from you in the comments below – what would you create if you had one of our cartridges??

happy easter art booking layout

The first is an Easter layout I created using the Frosted paper we carried in the last Idea Book- I used glitter paper and the Artbooking cartridge to add some fun detail like the hearts and my title.  I also used stamping and ‘inked’ in my ‘Happy’ image with my blending pen and ink picked up from my blush stamp pad.  I also added some Kraft paper- it does go with everything after all!

huntington outdoor layout

This layout also using Artbooking and features the Huntington paper from the last Idea book- I LOVE the wood detail combined with the film strip  (which worked perfectly for the series of photos I took of my Dad jumping a stream).  All the other elements also came from the Artbooking cartridge!

Spring/Summer CTMH Idea Book Reveal: Day 10

Day 10 already! The time is passing quickly and the orders are rolling in to the CTMH Idea book reveal party- have you ordered yet?  Remember you can order on my SHOP under the Idea Book reveal party and you will be entered in to the draw to win the HOSTESS REWARDS for the entire party!

Today I am going to show another layout for another workshop on the go kit- this one is Lollydoodle! How adorable is this layout of my daughter and her friends at gymnastics?!  I love the interesting cuts on this layout that make it so much more interesting than a basic layout full of square cuts!  This kit is one that you do need to purchase, or already own, the CTMH Cricut Artiste cartridge if you would like to complete it.  You can create the layout with the straight cuts if you like but the intricate ones are so much more fun!

Do you have any of our Cricut cartridges? Tell me below what you own, which cartridge is on your wish list and how you plan to get it.  I may just draw a lucky winner to win a special prize!
