Have you seen the newest Art and Soul episode??

A new episode was released on Tuesday and it is “Sensational Simplicity”- if you have yet to watch any of these episodes then you are truly missing out. This episode will teach you how to random stamp, the different uses of our adhesives and supply you with some photo tips for when you scrapbook.

Click the link to go check out the 16 minute episode and feel free to stay to watch them all!

Does this make you wish you could earn an incentive trip??

This is a photo I took while on the CTMH incentive trip that I earned to the Mediterranean last year. I LOVED the trip (big surprise)! This photo was taken in the South of France at an intact medieval village called Eze- truly my favourite place as I felt like I was stepping back in history. The village is build on the tip of a mountain and it is extremely steep BUT if you climb to the top (where there are the remnants of the village castle that was destroyed by Napoleon) they have created this beautiful exotic garden with at least 10 of these gorgeous statues. I was very taken with all of it! Now I think I may need to create another layout using this photo OR frame it in my scrapbook room!!
If this does make you wish to earn one of these trips then make sure that you become a consultant (feel free to contact me for details) or if you are one already then get ready- it will not be long before Close to my Heart announces the next incentive trip!!

Finally Finished the Whole Layout!

This layout took a lot of time and some heart and soul!! I am really pleased with how it turned out even if I did have to recreate elements more than once! Since this is a picture you do miss some of the finer details but the overall look is still good. Now all I have left is my journaling (which is usually the hardest part for me).

Please let me know what you thing- I am entering this into a contest later this month and would love some advance feedback.

Mixing my Photos with my Scrapbooking

Tonight was the first evening in a long time that I had enough time, and the creative juices, to allow me to get into my scrapbooking!! I decided to work on mixing some of the photos that I have been working on in Photoshop into my scrapbooking- even though I LOVED playing with these photos it will never make me a digital scrapbooker (the computer is just not fun and relaxing and my hands stay far too clean!!)
I am very pleased with the one page that I have finished tonight and the techniques that I pulled in.
Two of the techniques I used here are listed below with more detailed photos:

Sewing: I know that this is not every one’s ‘cup of tea’ but I promise if you drag out that machine you will enjoy the results. In my layout I created a box around my 12×12 bamboo cardstock with white thread before I added anything else onto my page. I also sewed across my sorbet-ish ric-rac ribbon once I had antiqued it.

Antique-ing: I wanted my ribbon to evoke the feeling of age (something I tried to pull through in a few different elements as this went well with the photo). In order to take my sorbet ribbon and age it I had to dip it into a mixture of brown re-inker and water (just a few drops of re-inker and then I filled the craft jar almost to the top). I dipped it and only let it soak for a few seconds and then pulled it out and left it to dry. Once it was dry I was able to use it on my page.

Here is my finished page:

TTV photo technique

Today’s technique was designed to mimic the look of taking a TTV photo (a photo type that uses an old camera attached to your digital camera- sounds neat!). For this technique I resized my photo so that it was square (like they were back in the day) and then added a TTV texture- I also did some hand tinting (of the boat and part of the sky where there was originally a sunrise) and added the postal stamp brushes in the corner. I live how it turned out and now must go practice on some other photos!!

Two other photo techniques!

The above photo was taken on my FREE Close to my Heart cruise last year to the Mediterranean- this is at the Malta port just as we were coming in at sunrise. I took a quick tutorial off of the main page of Jessica’s website and learned to make the photo into a watercolour!! Very neat!

This is what we worked on yesterday with our couse- we learned how to use clipping masks with our photos- that is what give my picture the ‘scruffy edges’ it has!

These lessons just keep getting better!!

Well- my course with Jessica Sprague just gets better and better!! Here are the creations for the past two days. The two exercise ones of the left are part of the photos I had my husband take for my “Own It” journey. I think I like the coloured one better but they are both pretty neat!! They were created using texture, clipping masks and by adding a frame! I would love to know what one you prefer- just post it in my comments!!

Are you a fan of TWILIGHT??

I know you are out there- when I blog hop I see lots of ladies who just loved the books and maybe even the movie BUT I am not sure how many have heard that Stephanie Meyer was writing a new book that was to be Edward’s version of events during the Twilight book- it is called Midnight Sun.

Well, I guess some of it got released and she was not pleased so she released all she had wrote on her website and I am not sure if she is finishing the project now!! Too bad!!
On the bright side if you click on this link http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/pdf/midnightsun_partial_draft4.pdf you will be able to read the 264 pages that she released. This is ligit as it is on her website- I am half way through and totally engrossed in it and sad because I know eventually it will just end with no follow up!!
