My Entry for Scrapbook and Share Contest

This is the layout I sent in this evening and below is the email journaling that accompanied it:

This layout is one that I just completed this weekend. It is of my son, Austin’s, first Ball Hockey Game. Our town recently had to close the ice rink. Austin had been upset as he badly wanted to learn how to skate well so that he could play hockey the following year. When the ice rink closed, the town had to cancel all the public and school skating days in order to allow all of the other programs to continue- this meant no practice for Austin. Austin was crushed, but this did not last long- when we were in the mall one day we noticed that the local Ball Hockey organization was opening up a league for 4-6 year olds. This was the answer- Austin was ecstatic- he could play hockey and not have to worry about the skating part!! His first game finally came around and Austin jumped out of the car and eagerly went to get on all his new gear so that he could play- we knew all the pads and safety equipment would be new for him but we never imagined his great discomfort over certain pieces of ‘protective’ equipment. He played through it though and had such a big smile on his face when it was all over. He still loves going to his hockey games and is now very used to his gear!!
